Jianmei Chen, Aifen Yao and Meiling Zhou
The selection of appropriate compensation points for reactive power compensation devices has a practical significance in minimizing power grid losses and improving power grid quality to the greatest extent possible. They are essential and important devices in existing power grid systems. This study used the particle swarm optimization algorithm to investigate the optimal compensation position of reactive power compensators and the node voltages and power losses under different load modes to verify that the installation of reactive power compensation devices can enhance the quality of electric energy and reduce the power consumption of transmission lines in high-voltage power grids. Simulation experiments showed that after reactive power compensation, the previously unqualified node voltages increased from 9.492 kv and 9.427 kv to 9.620 kv and 9.567 kv, respectively, becoming qualified; after compensation, the power loss reduced from 180.27 kw to 120.94 kw, the degree of power loss reduction was 19.67%, the voltage qualification rate was 99.89%, and the algorithm computation time was 13.24 s. The final results prove that the installation of reactive power compensation devices can achieve better control of high-voltage power grids and improve power grid supply efficiency while reducing power consumption of transmission lines.
