On the Motion of Excitons as Charged Composite Quasi-Particles in an Amorphous Solid
M.A. Grado-Caffaro and M. Grado-Caffaro
The main dynamical aspects of excitons as charged composite quasi-particles in an amorphous solid are examined by means of a powerful theoretical treatment. In fact, on the basis of that an exciton is a bound quantum state of an electron-hole pair after the hydrogen-atom model, the absolute value of an averaged (with respect to weighted discrete energy levels) exciton energy is defined and calculated for amorphous solids with parabolic energy bands. In particular, amorphous semiconductors of parabolic energy bands are considered. Prior to these considerations, an associated new reformulation of the non-relativistic, static, Schrödinger equation is given.
