This paper is a review of the recent research in bio-based materials for electronic applications. It will highlight work on ionic conductivity of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) based membranes, enhancement of direct current and photoconductivity of DNA, crosslinking of DNA, electrical and Raman characterization of DNA-based films fabricated by a drawdown bar technique and characteristics of DNA nucleobases. Also included are potential applications in electronics.
