Crystal growth of 1-methyl-4-{2-[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]-ethenyl}pyridinium p-toluenesulfonate (DAST) and 1-methyl 4-{2-[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]ethenyl}pyridinium p-chlorobenzenesulfonate (DASC) was carried out by using the slope nucleation method with solution cooling. DASC crystals were found to be more resistant to water in comparison with DAST.
