Transient absorption spectra of light emitting materials (Alq3 and Ir(ppy)3) have been measured in a wide wavelength range (400-1600 nm) to identify excited singlet and triplet states. It is shown that near-IR transient absorption measurements have an advantage for probing the excited state dynamics.
