Effects of Main Chain NLO Polymers on Second-Order Nonlinear Optical Properties

We reported that polydiacetylene copolymers having different polymer backbone consisting of same chromophore, such as disperse red 19 were synthesized. Effects of polymer backbone on second-order nonlinear optical coefficients were investigated. In order to compare an order parameter of NLO polymers prepared under same poling electric field, contact poling was examined. The obtained order parameter of NLO chromophore containing para-benzoate backbone is two times larger than that of meta-benzoate backbone.
