Synthesis of Novel Polyurethanes for Nonlinear Optical Applications

The chemical synthesis of novel, polyurethane based, functionalized polymers for quadratic nonlinear optics is described. The polymers are soluble in polar aprotic solvents. The structures of polymers were characterized by UV-Vis, IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy. For some polymers we found Tg in the range 96-119oC and Td about 300°C The SHG experiments showed that these kinds of polymers can be used as new NLO materials.
