A fibre laser was used to weld sodium calcium vacuum plate glazes with a PbO-TiO2-SiO2-RxOy filler and the influence of laser power and welding speed on the interface characteristics were studied. The results indicated that the elements at the welded interface and the glaze diffused reciprocally, with a certain thickness and continuous layered wetting layer of interface reaction was formed. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the existence of microstructural phase of PbTiO3, PbO, SiO2 and AlSiO in the interface reaction wetting layer. Using higher laser power or lower welding speed cannot only be to the benefit of reducing the blowhole defects of the melting layer, but also helps to improve the compactness and flatness of the edge sealing structure.
