Based on an external cavity with a blazed grating for wavelength selection, spectral beam combining of two fibre lasers using large mode area (LMA) multimode Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped double-cladding fibre as active medium is demonstrated. The maximum combined power of 0.80 W with combining efficiency of about 83% was achieved, and the output beam quality factor M2x and M2y of 1.505 and 1.301, respectively, was obtained. Further, the effect of transform lens with different focal lengths for resultant spectral range is also presented.
