Experimental Investigation of Operational Characteristics of a Fast-Axial Flow CO2 Laser

In this paper, the performance characteristics of a fast axial flow CW CO2 laser are described. Various laser parameters such as discharge stabilization, output power and efficiency of the laser system for different discharge currents, gas pressures and gas mixture ratio have been investigated in the closed and open-cycle conditions. Our experimental observations show that for in the two proposed operational conditions a better operational performance is in the open-cycle condition. Our experimental data are presented and the results of two proposed conditions have been compared.
