Ming Wen, Yan-Ji Homg, Jian Yang and Tie-Jum Zhou
The impact pendulum system to measure the instantaneous impulse for laser propulsion has as core the incremental revolving encoder. System parameters, such as the rotary inertia, are self calibrating to a high degree of accuracy. The degree of accuracy and range covered by the impact system with three standard poles has been estimated. The results showed that the range of the system is between 0.003 N.s and 0.15N.s. The relative accuracy can vary from 1.39% to 4.85%.
