By varying the laser parameters of a Nd:YAG pulsed laser, it was possible to demonstrate that various thresholds existed in the oxidation of titanium. A link was established by varying laser parameters between the thermal effect induced by the laser and the quantity of the absorbed oxygen in the substrate. The first threshold level of titanium oxidation depends also on the pulse repetition of the impacts and the laser power density per pulse, and was determined and linked with the yellow colour.
