Correlation of Single Particle Velocity in Upward Water Flow in Vertical Pipe
Michio Sadatomi and Toshio Yoshinaga
A correlation of the rising velocity of single coarse particle in upward water flows in vertical pipes has been obtained based on the well-known drift flux model for aiming at its application to liquid-solid two-phase flows. In the correlation, distribution parameter and mean relative velocity were calculated from the new correlations determined from the present data on radial distributions of passage and velocity of single particle in flowing water. The resulting particle velocity correlation could predict Toda et al.’s and the present author’s data for nonspherical as well as spherical particles with various size, density and shape within 10%.
