Numerical Modelling of Two-Phase Bubbly Flow in Venturis

A numerical study for air-water two-phase bubbly flow in vertical and horizontal venturis was carried out by employing the CFD code, CFX version 4.1. Based on the two-fluid equations, mathematical and numerical models were developed. Bubble induced turbulence, interfacial transfers, pressure drops and buoyancy effects on bubbly flows were considered in the model. Numerical results for bubbly vertical upward flow were compared with published experimental data showing good agreement. The performance of two phase bubbly flows along vertical and horizontal venturis at lateral sections are presented and discussed in the paper.
