PVT and excess molar volume properties of copolymer and homopolymer blends using new perturbed hard sphere trimer chain equation of state
F. Akbari and M. M. Alavianmehr
In our previous work, a perturbed hard sphere trimer chain (PHTC) equation of state (EOS) was developed for pure polymers (M. M. Alavianmehr, S. M. Hosseini, F. Akbari, J. Mol. Liq. 212 (2015) 900–906.) The PHTC EOS is extended to model the volumetric properties of multicomponent mixtures of polymers. In the present work, in order to extend this EOS to the polymer blends, the mixture parameters are obtained from pure-component parameters along with some conventional combining rules. In order to examine the performance of the proposed EOS for polymer mixtures, we employed the PHTC EOS for predicting 7764 data points including 252 data points polymeric solutions, 3620 polymeric blends, 3892 data points of copolymers. The overall average absolute deviations (AAD%) of the predicted densities or specific volumes from the experimental values were found to be 0.22%, 0.24%, 0.16%, respectively. The overall AAD for 7764 data points examined was 0.22.
