Measurement of physical properties of Alumina-water nanofluids
Henrique Massard da Fonseca, Helcio R. B. Orlande, Renato Machado Cotta and Ismail V. Tavman
Nanofluids are supensions of nanoparticles in pure (base) fluids. This work deals with the characterization of water-based alumina nanofluids through the measurement of thermal conductivity and rheological behavior. The thermal conductivity is measured with the line heat source method, while the rheological behavior is measured with a viscosimeter. The results obtained in this work are compared to those of the respective base fluid (water) as well as to the values predicted with theoretical models available in the literature.
Keywords: Viscosity, thermal conductivity.
