A new correlation for predicting the Chapman – Jouguet detonation pressure of CHNO explosives
Mohammad Keshavarz, Mohsen Oftadeh
For CHNO explosives, a new correlation is shown between detonation pressure, combustion temperature, and the number of moles of gaseous detonation products at the initial density of the explosive. The semi-empirical PM3 procedure has been used for calculating the heat of formation of the explosive which is required for computation of the combustion temperature. Detonation pressures derived in this manner have a simple form.
