High-temperature mass spectrometry with the Knudsen cell: II. Technical constraints in the multiple-cell method for activity determinations
Christian Chatillon, Luis-F Malheiros, Philippe Rocabois, Michel Jeymond
The high-temperature multiple-Knudsen-cell mass spectrometric method has been widely used in our laboratory to determine activities in alloys, ceramics, slags, and other multicomponent systems. We discuss here mass spectrometric requirements from the point of view of technical implementation and running of the multiple-cell furnace, and describe the improvements that have been made since our first device was built and tested in 1976.
