Evaluation of laser-flash measurements by means of numerical solutions of the heat conduction equation
Frank Schmitz, Dominic Hehn, Horst R Maier
The parameters of a laser-flash measurement (thermal diffusivity, heat loss, etc) cannot be measured directly. They have to be determined iteratively by variation of the parameters of a calculated curve and comparison with the measured temperature rise. Up until now analytical solutions have mostly been used for this iteration process. These analytical solutions — if they exist — become more and more extensive because of the increasing complexity of the boundary conditions.
