Inverse analysis for the measurement of thermal properties of hard coatings
Christophe Martinsons, Michel Heuret
A photothermal technique is applied in order to analyse the thermal properties of titanium nitride coatings on steel substrates. The inverse problem is solved after the statistical correlations between the parameters have been minimised. Three thermal parameters are estimated: thermal effusivity of the coating, characteristic time of heat diffusion in the coating, and interfacial thermal resistance between the coating and the substrate.
