Transient heat transfer in coated diathermic media: a theoretical study
Oliver Hahn, Rainer Hofmann, Harald Mehling, Friedrich Raether, Jochen Fricke
A Green’s function for the calculation of transient combined conductive and radiative heat transport in a diathermic (ie translucent, scattering, but nonabsorbing) medium with absorbing coatings has been derived. The Green’s function is used to study the influence of absorbing coatings on the evolution of the temperature at the sample boundaries. It is shown how the thermal diffusivity of coated diathermic media can be determined by means of the laser-flash method.
