Viscosity of gaseous binary mixtures containing water vapour

First measurements of the viscosity of gaseous binary mixtures of nitrogen with water vapour and methane with water vapour in the temperature range 310 – 470 K close to the two-phase line of the mixtures are reported. The accuracy of the measurements is estimated to be ±1.0% which is confirmed by measurements on two pure gases. The experimental results are used to test the accuracy of a procedure for the prediction of the viscosity of such moderately dense gas mixtures founded upon the kinetic theory of gases without the aid of any adjustable parameters. The predicted viscosities are found to lie within ±7% of the experimental results.
