Recent and modern improvements in sensors and sensing systems (configuration, operation, and various applications) have a significant influence on all field including agriculture. With the help of such sensors, one can obtain real-time data about almost everything: from local temperature to material composition to water and air pollution. Modern sensors can be employed on small sizes, like the size of a plant cell, or on vast ones, such as in worldwide remote sensing of the agricultural lands, vegetable and fruit lands as well as forests. Sensor applications in agriculture fields have substantially widened in the last few decades. For instance, modern sensors are being widely utilized in soil and moisture monitoring, photosynthetic systems, plant sensing, remote sensing and related agricultural fields. Thus, this review focuses on and discusses the role and applications of modern sensors in agricultural sectors developed and investigated in the last decade (2010~ 2022).
