A New Delay Model for Distributed RLC Trees
Xiaochun Li and Junfa Mao
A new analytical delay model for distributed RLC trees is developed, which extends Elmore delay model for distributed RLC trees. The new delay model derives a simple analytical formula by using two-moment matching technique for distributed RLC trees. It is more accurate than and as efficient as the Elmore delay models for lumped RC trees, distributed RC trees and lumped RLC trees, with time complexity linearly proportional to the number of branches in an interconnect tree. Its solution is always stable. The proposed delay model is suitable for design methodologies and optimization techniques of Very Large Integrated Circuits (VLSI).
