CaRuO3-based ‘Green’ Thick Film Resistors

CaRuO3 based lead free resistor paste compositions were formulated. The alumino-borosilicate glass containing CaO-BaO compounds was used as a glassy matrix in the paste. Resistors were screen printed on 96% alumina substrates. The structural, microstructural and thermal analysis was carried out for the precursor ruthenate powder as well as fired films. Three different paste compositions (variation of conductor concentration) showed the sheet resistance of 6-75 KW/sq range. Hot and cold TCR was in the range of –145 ppm/ °C and –150 ppm/ °C, respectively for the temperature –120 to +120 °C.
