Modeling and Performance Analysis of Optical Burst Switching (OBS) Network in Presence of Different Nonlinearities: A Modified Feedback Approach

Contention is a major issue in all optical network. To obtain optimum performance, proper contention resolution is very much essential. In this paper a feedback based contention resolution in an optical burst switching network is reported. Performance of the proposed architecture has been verified in terms of blocking probability, throughput etc. The investigation further extended to investigate the effects of different optical nonlinearities on the proposed model. Result shows significant performance enhancement due to introduction of feedback node.
