Generation of Superposed Coherent States
Shivani A. Kumar
A scheme to generate any general superposed coherent states⎥α⟩ and ⎥-α⟩ is reported. The scheme involves the use of Kerr effect, two beams in coherent states, a single photon beam and linear optical instruments such as a polarization beam splitter and optical mirrors. The photons are investigated in the output mode and it is reported that if only one photon is obtained in a polarization state given by angles θ and φ, the desired superposed coherent states ⎥α⟩ and ⎥-α⟩ results. If the photon is seen in the horizontal state, a different superposed state is obtained in the vertical state and vice-versa.
