Thermal expansivity of HCP iron and MgSiO3 at high pressure and temperature
Manoj Kumar, Uma D. Sharma and Munish Kumar
A simple theory based on the knowledge of Equation of state (EOS) is used to compute the pressure dependence of the coefficient of volume thermal expansion, α , at different temperatures for HCP iron and MgSiO3. The results are compared with the earlier theoretical investigations for HCP iron as well as experimental data for MgSiO3. A reasonably good agreement for HCP iron with earlier results is obtained. The computed values of α for MgSiO3 under different conditions of pressure and temperature present good agreement with the experimental data, demonstrating the validity of the simple model proposed for complicated minerals.
