Dynamic Clustering Protocol to Enhance Performance of Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Network

With the evolution of sensor technology, it is possible to monitor the event remotely. Nevertheless, limited energy resource of wireless sensor node affects the performance of network during real-life applications. Thus, there is necessity to enhance the energy efficiency of network for improving the network performance. However, cluster-based routing scheme solve this issue to a greater level. Addition of heterogenite nodes in clustered WSN further improves the performance of design scheme to a greater extent. This is well explained by our previous publication in the form of Energy Efficient Clustering Protocol to Enhance Performance Parameters of Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Network (EECPEP-HWSN). However, there are some findings such as deployed nodes are location sensitives and design follow fixed epoch. Thus, it reduces residual energy of the network over the lifetime and limits the stability of the network. To improve this, we propose Dynamic Clustering Protocol to Enhance Performance of Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Network (DCPEP-HWSN). This design mainly aims to use available node energy efficiently. In proposed scheme, CH selection follow node quality index based on node initial energy, residual energy and hop count. Here, deployed nodes in the network are location insensitive and follow the varied epoch in Cluster Head (CH) selection. CH selection is finalized based on node usability value. Node always check communicating distance with cluster head (CH) and base station before transferring collected data. This improved version of DCPEP outperforms published EECPEP-HWSN as well as some of the well-known published protocols.
