Preface: Special Issue on Adaptive and Intelligent Systems
Pasi Luukka, Mikael Collan and Jan Stoklasa
The Northern-European Society for Adaptive and Intelligent Systems (NSAIS) workshop, from which seven papers were chosen to be extended and published in this special issue, was held on August 16-17, 2016 in Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland. The workshop attracted international participants from altogether seven countries. NSAIS promotes theoretical and application-oriented research in adaptive and intelligent systems with a focus on fuzzy and soft systems, neural networks, and evolutionary computing.
The papers presented in this special issue concentrate on fuzzy numbers and aggregation operators, multiple-criteria decision making, fuzzy-valued propositional logic, and real-world applications of soft computing methods. As such, they represent some of the key focus areas of NSAIS.
Acknowledgements: The guest editors are grateful to Professor Dan Simovici, the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Multiple-Valued Logic and Soft Computing. We would also like to express our thanks to all the authors and the reviewers.
