Real Time Validation of Efficient Received Signal Strength Based Localization Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Network

Location awareness is important for Wireless Sensor Network, since many applications such as environment monitoring, vehicle tracking and event mapping, need the location knowledge of the sensor nodes. This paper presents the design and implementation of an Efficient Received Signal Strength (ERSS) based localization algorithm for indoor wireless sensor network. The limitation of accuracy in RSS based approach is alleviated by one-dimensional Kalman filter and min-max algorithm. The performance of the developed ERSS localization algorithm is validated in real time with the customized sensor nodes.
